Genital Warts, Lumps & Bumps

These are skin-coloured, cauliflower-looking lesions. They appear as small growths on the genital and anal regions. Genital warts are commonly caused by viruses, e.g. Molluscum Cantagiosum Virus and HPV virus. Genital warts are infectious, and can cause itching, pain, and even bleeding. Besides genital warts, there are numerous other causes for lumps and bumps that form on the genitals. Most of these are harmless, though some can cause irritation and itching. Some examples are:

  • Tyson’s Spots: Small, white / yellowish bumps that form on the underside of the penis. They are usually harmless.
  • Angiokeratomass: These are dark red or blue bumps that usually form on the scrotum, penis, surrounding area. These may cause discomfort.
  • Penile and Scrotal Cysts: These are fluid-filled sacs that form under the skin of the penis or scrotum. If large or infected, they can cause pain.
  • Water Warts: These are shiny dome-shaped lesions with a  characteristic central dimple. While usually painless, they may result in itching.
